High DC current Resistance Meters

The light-weight, micro-ohmmeter RMO series instruments are designed for contact resistance measurement of non inductive test objects. RMO instruments are based on state of the art technology, using the most advanced switch mode technique available today. RMO generates true DC current with automatically regulated test ramps. During the test RMO ramps with increasing current before measuring and decreasing current after the measurement. This eliminates magnetic transients. Models range from 100A to 800A (IEC recommends 50A for breaker contacts, ANSI recommends 100A). The RMO series is available in a plastic case or in a metal case.

High DC current Winding Resistance meter for transformers/motors

The winding ohmmeter series RMO-T instruments are designed for winding resistance measurement of inductive test objects. RMO-T instruments are based on state of the art technology, using the most advanced switch mode technique available today. RMO-T generates true DC current (up to 60A @ up to 60V of drive for portable units and up to 100A for rack-mounted units) with automatically regulated measurement and discharge circuit. RMO-T instruments can perform a simple and quick, but reliable transformer OLTC condition assessment. Measuring ripple of the current, and value of the winding resistance during the tap change, you can detect problems with contacts, and selector/diverter switch operation (tap change with interruption).

Powerful DC and AC power supply units for a Circuit Breaker test

Our Coil Testers & Breaker Supply units POB30D, POB30AD, POB30DL and POB30ADL have built-in capability to perform automatic test of minimal trip voltage. The minimum trip voltage test is described in a number of international and national standards such as IEC 62271-100, ANSI C37.09 etc. When used with a breaker analyser, these Coil Tester & Breaker Supply units are used as a power supply units. They are compatible with breaker analysers from different vendors. Coil Tester & Breaker Supply units can also be used as general power supply units or temporary battery charger. Maximum load time for coil outputs is 1 second.

Typical applications:

  • minimal-trip voltage-test of the circuit breaker's coils
  • supplying spring-charging motors
  • power supply at test with breaker analysers

Protective Earth Resistance Meter RMO60E

RMO60E is ideal for testing the protective bonding (grounding) of equipment following the standard 61010-1 IEC 2001. This standard specifies for plug connected equipment and for permanently connected equipment the following requirements:
The protective earth resistance should be below 0.1Ω or voltage between the protective conductor terminal and each accessible conductive part for which protective bonding is required not to exceed 10V.
Conformity is checked by applying a test current for 1 minute and then calculating impedance, or measuring the voltage between the protective conductor terminal and each accessible conductive part for which protective bonding is required. The test current should be greater of 25A or twice the rated current for plug connected equipment, or twice the value of the over-current protection for the permanently connected equipment.
For both of these applications RMO60E can provide the right tool for verification of the conformity, by applying current up to the value of 60A and the ability of RMO60E to provide continuous test current for the preset test duration (equal or exceeding 1 minute).
RMO60E generates true DC current with automatically regulated test ramps. During the test RMO60E ramps with increasing current before measuring and decreasing current after the measurement. This eliminates magnetic transients.
