CoroCAM® 6HD

High-Performance Solar-Blind UV Corona Camera for High-Voltage Inspections

The CoroCAM® 6HD sets a new benchmark for corona camera performance, designed to inspect high-voltage infrastructure operating at 3.3 kV and above for corona discharges and arcing. CoroCAM® 8HD

Combined Thermal IR, Solar-Blind UV Corona and HD Visible Camera

The CoroCAM® 8HD is a combination of a radiometric FLIR® thermal LWIR camera, a solar blind UV camera and HD visible camera. The CoroCAM® 8HD is intended for use by professional High Voltage infrastructure inspectors. The combination of these 3 cameras makes it possible to do both thermal IR and Corona inspections at the same time, saving time and effort. Co-location of electrical discharges and hot spots give the inspector more insight into the cause of a fault.

The FLIR® LWIR camera delivers high resolution radiometric information. The LWIR 640×512 pixel module is fitted with a 10.4° × 8.3° FOV F/1.25 lens which is optimal for overhead infrastructure inspections.

The CoroCAM® 8HD features a solar blind UVc imaging system similar to that in the CoroCAM® 6HD. Advanced UVc image enhancement features are available to increase sensitivity (adjustable Long Integration & Non-Solar Blind Mode*), reduce false signals (adjustable Noise Reduction & Threshold Level) and improve the visibility of the discharge indicating blob (adjustable Background Priority, Blob Transparency and Blob False Colour). This world class UVc imaging system is paired with a high zoom HD visible camera, allowing it to achieve an IFOV (Instantaneous Field of View) of 0.01917mRad/ ∆K of 52.1629 for its visible channel.

UCF files are XML based files used to record the uncompressed displayed, raw UVc & radiometric thermal images, the camera settings and calibration values in one file.

CoroCAM® 8HD UAV

Remote-Controlled Thermal IR, Solar-Blind UV Corona and HD Visible Camera for UAV Applications

The CoroCAM® 8HD UAV is a combined thermal IR, solar blind corona and video camera, sized and balanced to fit into a standard commercial gimbal and to be fitted by an Enterprise grade UAV.

The UAV also allows for inspection from various directions of hard to reach overhead hardware. Having the camera closer to the hardware under inspection allows the visible camera to capture more detailed images of the physical condition of the components. This is required in order to assign maintenance priority using the EPRI® guideline.

The combination of these 3 cameras makes it possible to do both thermal IR and UV inspections at the same time, saving time and effort. Co-location of electrical discharges and hot spots give the inspector more insight into the kind and cause of a fault.

Installation onto the UAV or a tri-pod is quick and easy. The CoroCAM® 8HD UAV can be remote controlled from a standard radio controller using PWM or SBUS. Recordings can be done on the CoroCAM® 8HD UAV or at a combination HDMI display/recorder ground station.

CoroBASE Analysis and Reporting Software

CoroBASE

A corona inspection is only worth what the report is worth. CoroBASE is UViRCO's analysis and reporting package, and it is what turns a day of recordings into something an asset manager can act on.

The CoroCAM cameras record UCF files. A UCF is not a screenshot. It holds the uncompressed displayed image, the raw UV channel, the radiometric thermal data where the camera has it, plus the camera settings and calibration values, in a single file. That means the analysis happens against the real measurement rather than a picture of it, and a second reviewer can re-examine the same recording later.

CoroBASE reads those files and produces the inspection record: discharge location, severity, and the condition evidence needed to assign maintenance priority under the EPRI methodology.

CoroBASE is supplied with the CoroCAM 6HD, 7HD and 8HD, and is available for the 8HD UAV and UVS.
